Azure, however, offers a multitude of metrics, protocols and monitoring services, including Azure Monitor, to help companies track the state of their infrastructure and applications. Azure Monitor does not contain immediate notifications for the information that is of most interest to businesses, so they must set up alerts and notifications relevant to their applications and infrastructures, including performance and availability issues that we addressed in the last paragraph. What does this mean in practice? Suppose you provided a single virtual computer as a file server in Azure North Europe. If Microsoft plans an update, you will receive an email that reads for about a week: “Data Disk” is a persistent virtual hard drive that is added to a virtual machine and used to store application data. However, if two or more virtual machines are provided in an availability game, guaranteed connectivity for at least one instance is increased to 99.95 percent. When VMs are provided in two or more areas of availability, guaranteed connectivity rises again to 99.99 percent. By providing instances in different availability areas, expected downtime will be reduced by a factor of 10. If availability is a major concern, availability zones is the key to minimizing downtime and service interruptions. As always, there is a trade-off between costs and availability: it may not be cost-effective to provide less infrastructure in the availability areas, whereas for applications that support the company`s main turnover, downtime of one hour per month could be extremely expensive. The “virtual network” refers to a virtual private network that contains a collection of custom IP addresses and sub-networks that form a network border at Azure. We guarantee at least 99.9% availability of Azure Automation`s DSC agent service. The “assist window” refers to the period during which a service function or compatibility with a separate product or service is supported.

Azure is vast and inexpensive, with the margin of error provided by providing services in more than one area of error – the assumption is that each service you provide in Azure requires two or more instances per level and is therefore spread across multiple error domains. We can ensure that each level of service is in a different error domain by adding computers to a common availability set – what you know as vSphere or Hyper-V anti-affinity. If this configuration is enabled, Microsoft can limit planned or unforeseen failures to a single error domain and leave your service operational. We guarantee that Azure Cost Management for displaying and managing your Cross Cloud editions (currently Cross Cloud is limited to AWS) is available 99.9% of the time. As a free service, AKS does not offer a financially guaranteed service level agreement. We will strive to obtain at least 99.5% availability for the Kubernetes API server.
